The government has confirmed schools will remain open today despite the weather forecast.
Forecasters say up to eight inches of snow can be expected on higher ground, with up to four expected to fall on areas over 800 feet.
An amber warning remains in place from 5am to 11pm.
Earlier today, the government announced on social media that schools would open as normal.
Schools will remain open today (Thursday 8 February). This follows an updated weather forecast which expects the arrival of snow earlier in the day but for higher ground only.
