A 99-year old war veteran doesn't want presents for his 100th birthday, but funds given to a charity.
The Onchan branch of the Royal British Legion has confirmed President Hector Duff, who fell ill earlier this month is improving every day.
In a post on social media the branch said Mr Duff is looking forward to his milestone birthday, which is in just under two weeks time.
However, they have said he has specifically asked for no presents and is instead sponsoring the "Spirit of Normandy Trust Award".
The Trust is a charity which supports veterans of the Normandy Beach landings, as well as educating the public and students.
If anyone would like to contribute, they can send donations to Hector at 11 Ballachurry Avenue, Onchan IM3 4BD.
