Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Clare Barber says no housing estates have been given planning permission in agricultural-zoned land in the past 15 years.
She faced a question from Glenfaba and Peel MHK Kate Lord-Brennan about approvals and how the decisions had been made.
In her response, Mrs Barber said records showed out of 77 such applications since 2010, none had been given the green light by planners.
She added her department had looked for sites where six or more houses had been proposed.
