The Chief Minister says he won't send someone to London to represent the Isle of Man.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge asked Chief Minister Howard Quayle to consider the proposal in the House of Keys this week.
Mr Quayle admitted communicating with the UK is important - with Brexit looming and recent tax avoidance allegations against the Island.
But he said the idea is unjustifable in the Island's current financial situation.
