Last week the Breast Cancer Support Group launched a petition against what it claimed was a decision to screen women every three years instead of every two.
But in a letter to Onchan MHK Rob Callister, Mr Cannan says no such change has been recommended by Public Health Isle of Man, which sets the standards for Manx Care.
In his letter, he says a review of screening is planned in the next 12 months but no changes have been recommended or made yet.
