Attempts to hold a referendum before new assisted dying laws can be brought in have been voted down by the House of Keys.
Chief Minister Alf Cannan had proposed holding the vote, saying he hadn't seen a clear mandate from the public.
But a special sitting of the House of Keys today saw a move to adjourn discussion about one clause until next week rejected.
And a move to hold a referendum was also voted down by MHKs.
