The government has published a plan for the Adoption Act, which aims to modernize the Island's adoption rules.
The Act will simplify the process for vulnerable children and prospective adoptive families and address the safeguards which need to be in place.
It also aims to support the completion of adoptions in the shortest possible time.
The Department of Health and Social Care expects the initial work to take around seven months to complete before the secondary legislation is taken to Tynwald.
