The new Mayor of Douglas says she is ‘extremely proud’ to have been chosen but there are a number of ‘new challenges’ facing the council this year and it needs to look ‘long and hard’ at what it does.
Natalie Byron-Teare was unanimously elected at a formal ceremony on Wednesday and said she was ‘overwhelmed’ at the decision.
She takes over from Janet Thommeny who said she is ‘confident’ that she’d do well in the role.
Councillor Byron-Teare said the role is important to the ‘heritage’ of Douglas and will try to ‘promote and engage’ with all aspects of it.
