The government says it's planning a possible landfill tax to encourage recycling.
A waste management strategy involving the Department of Infrastructure and Department of environment, Food and Agriculture will be discussed by Tynwald when it sits in January.
In it, the report says it'll expand recycling by making it a duty for Local Authorities to recycle materials which have an environmental or economic benefit.
And it also says the DOI will consider introducing a land fill tax to promote separation and recycling for some waste materials.
