New Island bus schedules announced

New bus timetables have now come into effect across the Island.

Announcing the changes this week, government says the new schedules will improve responses to passenger demand, make the use of buses more efficient and make sure services are still available around major roadworks in different areas.

Among the changes, services will be increased on summer Sunday services between Ramsey, Laxey and Douglas as well as Monday to Saturday journeys between Douglas and Peel.

Meanwhile, services 8 & 28 between Douglas, Foxdale, Niarbyl, Castletown and Port Erin, and between Port Erin and the Sound will be extended to run on both Saturdays and Sundays over the summer period to allow residents to explore the Island during better weather.

Elsewhere, buses serving Pulrose are being altered around the roadworks around nearby Pulrose Bridge - the bus service for this route will be diverted via the Quarterbridge and an additional service, the 21P, is also being added.

Political member with responsibility for transport services, Claire Christian MHK, says: "Those who use the bus service should familiarise themselves with the new timetable as there are a number of extensions to routes and timings will change.

"With our range of ticketing options, our modern comfortable fleet of buses and improvements to our timetable, we are making the Island’s bus service an easier option for travelling around our Island."
