People Convicted of Serious Assaults Will be Sent to Prison
The recently appointed Inspector Phil Shimmin has said despite recent reported incidents in Douglas during the weekend it is still a very safe place to come on a night out.
He said a high percentage of the violent incidents occur between people known to each other, and random attacks are an extremely rare
occurrence.
He issued a message to the public reminding them that anybody caught committing acts of violent anti-social behaviour will be arrested and be up in court on the following Monday.
Inspector Shimmin said it's been identified that the bulk of the people fighting have been drinking to excess and work will now be undertaken with landlords to ensure that anyone who has had too much will stop being served.
