An MP in Cumbria says he’s hopeful the Steam Packet Company can start sailings to his constituency, after a meeting with the chief minister.
Whitehaven and Workington MP Josh MacAlister met with Alf Cannan to talk about plans for sailings to the area.
He says a new ferry terminal in West Cumbria - which he describes as the closest part of the UK to the Island - would boost tourism for both sides and a ferry terminal is one of the most popular suggestions in a survey of Whitehaven.
Mr MacAlister says he's hoping to meet government officials again in autumn to discuss a possible new terminal.
