New ferry service set to launch in time for TT 2014

A new ferry service set to rival the Steam Packet is hoping to be operational in time for TT 2014.

Ellan Vannin Line is the brainchild of Captain Kurt Bucholz, the CEO of shipping company Sea Alliance Isle of Man.

The plan is to start operating freight services in the final quarter of this year, before operating a passenger ferry next year to cope with the influx of biking fans.

He says he feels confident that the Ellan Vannin Line will act as a worthy opponent to the Steam Packet, but so far relations are good between the two companies:
