The Department of Enterprise says from November 1, parents will get stronger support with new shared parental and bereavement leave rights.
Parents can now share up to 50 weeks of leave in a child's first year, including for adoption.
Those facing loss can take up to two weeks' bereavement leave or one week leave after miscarriage, with allowances for unpaid workers.
