New drivers on the Island could be made to follow different laws than more experienced motorists.
The Government wants to push ahead with plans to introduce a 'two-tier' drink drive system.
It would mean that people using a 'R' plate would have a lower drink drive limit.
The UK has a limit of 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Rushen MHK Quintin Gill is urging people to put their views across in the public consultation on this matter, which closes tomorrow.
He thinks targeting new drivers might result in them not using their R plate and send out the message to other drivers that they can consume alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
Anyone with any comments on any of the many provisions in this Consultation Paper should contact Mr Chris Hannon at the Department of Infrastructure on Chris.Hannon@gov.im or by phone on 685010
