The government wants to find out how much Douglas promenade is used by pedestrians and cyclists.
The Department of Infrastructure has now installed a counter on Queen's Promenade with officials hoping statistics gathered on it will inform decisions on how to allocate resources.
The tech will also give those who use it further information and updates about the refurbishment scheme taking place along the stretch.
It comes after similar equipment to gather user figures was installed along the Islands Heritage Trail, Raad ny Foillan coastal path and Millenium Footpath near Sulby Reservoir.
