Young girls on the Isle of Man who are set to receive a vaccination to protect against cervical cancer next month have nothing to worry about.
That's according to the Public Health directorate which says speculation over the safety of a new vaccine is unhelpful and unfounded.
Next month the Department of Health will begin rolling out its annual vaccination programme for girls aged 12 and 13 to help protect them against the HPV virus which can cause cervical cancer.
In a change from previous years the vaccination administered will be Gardasil, as opposed to the former vaccine called Ceravix.
The change has led to speculation of local forums that the vaccine isn't safe - something Jacqui Dunne, who is a health protection nurse, dismisses:
