The new animal welfare codes will address people's lack of understanding about how to take care of animals.
That's according to Juana Warburton from the ManxSPCA, who says the new Animal Welfare Bill will be preventative and provide advice.
Previously, cruelty to kept animals would have already had to take place before the charity could intervene and police take action.
Juana says the codes of conduct for dogs, cats, horses and rabbits, which are currently under consultation, will help owners to maintain good standards of care
