Museum to tell womens' untold stories

The contributions of Manx women to the First World War effort are being highlighted today.

Manx National Heritage is holding a lecture to help people learn more about those who lived through 1914.

The talk will cover the experiences of Manx women who worked on the Island during the war, and those who had to travel to the UK.

Little has been published about women’s efforts at that time – principally because they didn’t talk openly about their contribution.

Curator of social history Matthew Richardson says many of the stories have never been heard:

The event will be held at the Manx Museum and will start at 11am.
