Murder Trial: Victim was in debt to man accused of killing him

60-year-old Neil Roberts was found dead at a house on Queen Street in Castletown in the early hours of December 1st. 

 

Castletown man Ian Anderson is currently standing trial for his murder - the 46-year-old denies the charge. 

 

Investigations following Mr Robert's death revealed he owed money to a number of individuals and businesses. 

 

This included £5,750 for a Mercedes he was due to purchase and over £1,600 in rent arrears from the property he vacated the month before his death. 

 

The jury was also told of an email sent to trustees of the Parville Estate by Anderson in May 2013 - this was where Mr Roberts worked. 

 

Follow up correspondence discussed the fact Anderson claimed he was owed £7,500 for work he had carried out with Mr Roberts on the estate between January and March.
