MSPCA opposes dog warden service cuts

The MSPCA says it will ‘vigorously oppose’ a decision to cut the current dog warden service.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is planning to terminate the role on March 31^st in an effort to save money.

Government pest control officers would take up the work – but it’s understood they only work between 9am and 5pm and don’t provide a bank holiday or weekend service.

Under the new proposals, a stray animal would be kennelled at Knockaloe before either being claimed or being taken to the MSPCA for rehoming after seven days, but only if there’s room.
