MSPCA opposes dog warden service cuts

The MSPCA says it will ‘vigorously oppose’ a decision to cut the current dog warden service.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is planning to terminate the role on March 31st in an effort to save money.

Government pest control officers would take up the work – but it’s understood they only work between 9am and 5pm and don’t provide a bank holiday or weekend service.

Under the new proposals, a stray animal would be kennelled at Knockaloe before either being claimed or being taken to the MSPCA for rehoming after seven days, but only if there’s room.
