Work Being Done to Include Isle of Man in UK\'s E-Border Security System
Work is currently underway to try and ensure that the Isle of Man is included inside the UK’s new security system e-border.
The e-border currently in force in the UK is a means to monitor everyone leaving or entering the country in an effort to detect criminals, illegal immigrants and terrorists.
Now if the Island were to remain outside of the UK’s e-border it’d mean advance information taken from passports and id cards would have to be provided by all travellers heading across the water.
This would not be required if the Island’s legislation was compatible.
It’s the general view of the Manx Government that to continue to be able to travel to the UK easily and hassle free the Isle of Man needs to be inside the electronic border.
The issue will now be taken to Tynwald for approval.
