MLC’s were relieved yesterday after a motion to abolish the Legislative Council failed in the House of Keys.
Rushen MHK Phil Gawne had tabled the proposal, arguing that at a time of austerity LegCo was not essential.
The failed bill received nine votes for and 13 against.
Mr Gawne says despite the outcome he didn’t hear a decent argument from the detractors:
