October marks Domestic Abuse awareness month.
At the start of the year the Island saw the introduction of the Domestic Abuse Act 2020 which aims to provide better protections for victims from all forms of abuse.
The act widens the parameters of what is deemed domestic abuse, whilst creating new offences for financial abuse, mental abuse and coercive or controlling behaviour.
It has also given the police and courts the legal powers to remove a perpetrator from an abusive environment.
According to Lorna Trevethan from Victim Support Isle of Man, they're seeing a different domestic abuse victim each day require their service.
