People can now access more in-depth eye examinations directly from their optician, as Manx Care expands services.
Historically, opticians have only been able to provide NHS sight tests and supply glasses
This meant patients often had to visit GPs or hospitals for non-routine eye issues, but trained opticians can now handle a wider range of conditions.
They’ll now be able to offer urgent care for sudden vision changes, glaucoma and cataract reviews as part of Supplementary Eye Examinations - at no extra cost.
