A Douglas councillor is calling on Tynwald to do more to encourage residents to own electric vehicles.
Frank Schuengel believes the switch to electric on Island is an important step towards the island's climate goals but says there are little to no incentives for petrol and diesel drivers to make the change.
Despite the increase of local EV charging points, Mr Schuengel believes the government should consider offering grants or subsidies for the installation of home charging points, as well as some enticement to buy the vehicles in the first place.
He adds that a scrappage scheme could also be beneficial:
