A member of the Legislative Council believes improvements should be carried out on Douglas Promenade before work starts on Peel Road.
Yesterday in Tynwald approval was granted to spend £4.3m to reconstruct the busy thoroughfare between the Quarterbridge and the Brown Bobby.
During the debate, MLC Dudley Butt told members that he believes the promenade is far worse than Peel Road and poses a danger to motorcyclists in certain places.
However, Infrastructure Minister David Cretney believes it’s right that the Peel Road scheme is completed first:
