Tynwald has backed moves to make misconduct in a public office illegal - but it won't be considered until after the general election.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge asked the court to support the change, but her motion was amended by Home Affairs minister Jane Poole-Wilson.
Mrs Poole-Wilson said government should look at the law between next October and 2031.
A similar offence was introduced in the UK in 2020.
