A sidecar racer who died during this year's TT festival crashed at up to 140mph, an inquest's heard.
Dwight Beare of Greeba Drive in Onchan was killed during sidecar race one on Saturday, June 4 when he lost control of his machine near Bishopscourt.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham heard spectators watched the green sidecar drift out of the racing line as it approached Orrisdale Road North.
The machine crashed into a sod bank, throwing Mr Beare and his passenger Benjamin Binns into the road.
Department of Infrastructure vehicle examiner Anthony Bode told the hearing he could find nothing wrong with the Suzuki sidecar that could have explained the incident.
Mr Beare died almost instantly from severe head and neck injuries, while Mr Binns suffered a broken leg.
Mr Needham said he couldn't establish why Mr Beare had lost control and crashed and said "he was doing what he loved to do but that will clearly be no comfort for those left behind."
He recorded a verdict of misadventure and passed his condolences on to Mr Beare's family.
