Minister to be asked about Asbestos in schools

The Minister for Education and Children will tomorrow be asked about his department's policy with regards to asbestos management within Schools.

Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer will ask Minister Karran the question, also seeking to find out how many of the Island's schools have been identified as having traces of asbestos.

If inhaled, asbestos fibres have been known to cause serious health issues to the individual, with it linked to a number of cancers.

The question forms part of a mixed order paper with the sitting getting underway at 10.00am.
