The Department of Economic Development says it's working to improve the Island’s retail sector.
Figures show a 20 per cent reduction in the area although government says the latest national income forecasts are now more positive.
Minister John Shimmin says his department is taking the declining retail environment very seriously and highlighted the £8 million regeneration fund which has been set up to help towns and villages.
