There is only one specialist mental health worker for those in police custody during working hours.
Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft was asked by Onchan MHK Julie Edge what support there is for those under arrest.
Mrs Beecroft said outside working hours there's a forensic medical examiner and a duty social worker - but the only other assessment service for those in custody is an out of hours psychiatrist.
She says setting up a forensic mental health facility is currently under consideration.
