A court’s heard how an argument over a pint of milk ended with a man assaulting his partner.
Jake Flood of Mona Drive in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse after previously pleading guilty to common assault.
The court heard the 25 year old had been at home with his girlfriend on March 12 when she went into the kitchen and noticed another housemate had used her milk.
She asked Flood to talk to them, but he became aggressive and verbally abusive.
Hazel Carroon, prosecuting, said Flood punched her a number of times, knocking her to the floor before she fled the house and went to the Sea Terminal, where she reported the attack.
Magistrates noted Flood was the subject of a suspended sentence, but said it would be unjust to activate it.
They sentenced him to 12 weeks in prison, saying they wouldn’t be so lenient if he committed more offences in future.
