An MHK is calling for a “clear vision” for farmers in an effort to secure the Island’s agricultural industry.
Alf Cannan will ask Tynwald next month to set up a Select Committee to review the issues facing the industry and take evidence from farmers and stakeholders.
Poor weather and the heaviest snowfall in 50 years means farmers are facing a troubled future as they struggle to recoup their financial losses.
Despite reassurances from government and the National Farmers’ Union that current policies are the way forward Mr Cannan says he can’t ignore concerns that are being brought to his door:
