MHK to ask about cost of baggage handlers

An Onchan MHK will ask how much it costs to employ the baggage handlers at Ronaldsway Airport in Tynwald next week.

David Quirk wants to know how much government spent on employing the workers in 2010 and 2011 and 2011 and 2012.

He also wants to know what proportion of the money was given out in overtime payments.

In a second question Mr Quirk will ask the Chairman of the Whitley Council if there is an agreement which allows baggage handlers to be stood down by their supervisor before the end of their shift.

During Tuesday’s sitting the Department of Infrastructure will ask Tynwald to approve a £3 million spend on new baggage handling facilities at Ronaldsway.
