MHK querying future plans for special constables

Would the Isle of Man's police force benefit from more unpaid officers?

That's a question being put to the Home Affairs Minister in the House of Keys next week.

Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper will quiz Bill Malarkey on whether he thinks more special constables are needed.

He'll also ask the Douglas South MHK to reveal what plans he has to attract more people into the role.

Special constables are community volunteers who have the same powers as regular police officers - they're often used at busy times of the year and as extra police presence at events.

The House of Keys sitting will take place on Tuesday.
