MGP future 'not under threat'

A detailed review into the funding of the Manx Grand Prix had begun with a serious look at its finances under the spotlight – but it’s future is not under threat.

A statement released by the DED confirms it’s launched a comprehensive review to clarify, costs, benefits and potential to exploit the event.

The department says the next year’s event will not be affected by the review and will go ahead as planned.

The two-week festival currently includes the MGP races, classic trial, two-day trial, rally and the vintage bikes.

The review will take a careful look into the event’s structure, marketing PR as well as evaluating it return of investment.

Chief executive Colin Kniveton has stressed the long-term future of the event is not under threat and this review is simply to find a way of making the event better (see audio).
