Manx Utilities is advising residents after receiving reports of a hoax notice.
It says a 'boil notice' has been sent to some customers via e-mail under the name of 'Isle of Man Water & Sewerage Authority' - which no longer exists.
The organisation says there's no issue with water quality and no notice has been issued.
It's added if you receive this message to disregard and delete it.
