Manx money helps build schools in Nepal

Nearly 30 schools have been built in Nepal thanks largely to the fundraising and humanitarian efforts of the government and Manx people.

Funding gathered on Island has proved invaluable to the development of the schools in the landlocked sovereign state in South Asia.

The most recent project saw £13,000 raised in Nepal by a former Queen’s Gurkha Engineer - the rest was provided by government’s International Development Committee.

Former local head teacher Howard Green is the chairman of local charity the Pahar Trust. It has also been instrumental in the ongoing fundraising effort.

He says the work is very much a collaborative effort:
