The LGBT group mark International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia
The Isle of Man's Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender group are today tackling the issue of Homophobia on the Isle of Man.
Today is recognised around the world as International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.
From last month same sex couples have been able to apply for a civil partnership, and also to adopt. The Isle of Man still viewed homosexuality as being illegal up until 1992.
LGBT Chairman Lee Clarke told 3FM that despite these positive developments homophobia is still rife.
He said things like the flippant usage of the word 'gay' in an insulting context can be very hurtful and isn't helping modernise people's views on the issues surrounding homosexuality.
Lee told us that the groups 1000 plus members will all be displaying the gay pride rainbow flag to mark the significant day.
