Chief Minister Alf Cannan says the government hasn't yet looked at what the UK's digital ID scheme could mean for the Island.
During this week's Tynwald sitting, he was asked to make a statement on the issue by Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper.
Mr Cannan said the government here would keep an eye on the proposals as they develop across.
However, he explained the impact couldn't be assessed yet:
