The first stage of the work is the pre survey, which will see teams of Island based workers visit 6,800 homes and businesses gathering the information needed to ensure an efficient conversion.
Manx Gas are gearing up for the first phase of their major Natural Gas extension project.
The aim of the scheme is to provide all existing central heating customers with improved security of supply and greater choice in appliances.
The first stage of the work is the pre survey, which will see teams of Island based workers visit 6,800 homes and businesses gathering the information needed to ensure an efficient conversion.
During the survey the workers will identify all connected gas appliances, perform a gas safety inspection, and do any minor repairs on certain safety related defects.
It’s a major undertaking with the teams first visiting properties in Ramsey before heading south and finally to the West of the Island.
Conversion Project Manager Aidan Baglow has said the last time this was attempted in the Douglas area in 2003 there were major failings, but he says this is a different approach with many lessons learned from last time.
The survey will commence on 28th February; none of the conversions will begin for at least another year.
