Manx face new opponents amid controversy

The Isle of Man’s national football team will now face new opponents in the quarter-final of a major tournament next month amid controversial circumstances.

They were scheduled to face West Yorkshire in the FA Inter-League Cup but the English team have since been spectacularly thrown out of the competition after fielding ineligible players.

This now means the Island will play Liverpool County at the Bowl in just over two weeks’ time.

It will be a chance for Kevin Manning’s team to get revenge over the Merseysiders who knocked the Manx out of the competition in 2009.

The match will take place on February 18 with a 3pm kick-off.
