Electric trams will run from Monday as part of backup plans during a 10-day bus strike.
Bus Vannin announced the news on its Facebook page as it prepares to announce its contingency plans during the industrial action.
Bus drivers are walking out from Saturday in a row with government over wages, holiday and sick pay.
The Department of Infrastructure says the Manx Electric Railway will be used to support commuting and school travel, with a timetable due to be released today.
