An Isle of Man coin will be used to bless the new Steam Packet vessel, the Manxman
An Isle of Man coin will uphold a centuries old tradition during the construction of the Steam Packet's new vessel.
A keel coin is said to be a symbol of good fortune and will be placed under the keel block to bless the Manxman while it's built in South Korea.
The coin depicts a ship to represent the Island's strong maritime history and will be taken to Korea by Steam Packet chairman Lars Ugland.
Treasury Minister David Ashford says the Steam Packet's long and proud history is continuing with the construction of the Manxman, which will be a great asset for our Island community for many years to come.
