A man who tried to burgle a petrol station has been put on probation and banned from licensed premises.
Ryan Anthony David Langton of The Bretney in Jurby appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 26 year old admitted attempted burglary and criminal damage at the Spar shop in Parliament Square in Ramsey on October 11.
The court heard Langton failed to break through the shop’s back door in the early hours of the morning, and pulled a CCTV camera from the wall as he tried to gain entry.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Langton served a jail term last year for burglary and also had a previous conviction for criminal damage.
He was placed on probation for two years and banned from on-licensed premises or buying alcohol for six months.
Mrs Hughes also ordered him to pay £45 compensation and £125 costs.
