Man who punched pub landlord pleads guilty to ABH

A Maughold man who's pleaded guilty to ABH after assaulting a pub landlord has been committed for sentencing.

33-year-old Ian Brown appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday admitting one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

He punched the licensee of the Mines Tavern in Laxey in the face on September 27th after a row with his girlfriend in the beer garden.

The landlord fell to the concrete floor, was knocked unconscious and allegedly broke a number of ribs.

Calling it an "unprovoked attack" the prosecution said there was little medical evidence to document the level of injury as x-rays don't show up broken ribs.

Defending him his advocate said the court needed to see more conclusive medical reports before proceeding with sentencing.

Mr Brown was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery - he will appear on October 24th.
