A man who crashed his car while twice over the limit after a Christmas party later tried to flee from police.
Andrew Joseph Gray of Ellenbrook Drive in Kewaigue appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 52 year old admitted drink-driving and driving without due care and attention on December 4.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing he’d been drinking in Douglas but got behind the wheel of his Mitsubishi L200 and tried to drive home along the promenade.
However, he crashed into a wall at Leigh Terrace and managed to drive his heavily damaged vehicle to the Kewaigue Dip.
Police spotted him as he hid in shadows and caught him as he ran away.
Mr Brooks placed him on probation for 12 months and banned him from driving for three years.
Gray was also ordered to pay £125 costs.
