A Ramsey man who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to his ex-girlfriend’s home after she dumped him has been remanded in custody.
Shaun David Bignall of Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 33 year old pleaded guilty to one count of burglary with intent to cause damage, and two counts of criminal damage.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing Bignall had smashed windows on a camper van belonging to the woman when she told him their relationship was over on September 30.
But just days later on October 2, he forced his way into her home in the early hours of the morning and began smashing items in front of her and her young son as they begged him to stop.
They fled to a neighbour’s house and called police – when officers arrived they found he’d smashed a computer, TV, and other items in a destructive spree.
Magistrates turned down a bail application and remanded Bignall in custody until his sentencing on January 26.
