A man who grabbed his wife by the throat and pinned her against a wall before breaking a police officer’s finger has escaped an immediate prison term.
Rui Filipe Monteiro Ramos of Cullyn Link in Anagh Coar appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 24 year old attacked his wife on November 15, breaking a £200 mirror and struggling with police who tried to arrest him.
He admitted criminal damage, assault and resisting police in the execution of their duty.
The court heard the incident happened while Ramos was on probation for a previous domestic violence conviction.
Mrs Hughes resentenced him for that offence, imposing a total jail term of 32 weeks suspended for two years.
He also has to pay £500 compensation to the injured police officer and £125 costs.
